The company has already committed $32 billion to OpenAI and acquired chipmaker Ampere to build the necessary infrastructure.

Son framed the AI race as a winner-takes-all battle, positioning SoftBank against tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. This marks a return to his high-stakes investment approach, reminiscent of early bets on Yahoo and Alibaba.
